Building an assessment

Overview

In Glasshouse, Assessment page is designed for the assessment of the learners’ knowledge.

When the learner does not answer all of the questions or skipped some questions, it will not affect the number of attempts nor calculate the score. It will show the questions which were missed by the learner and guide them to navigate for answering those questions and then submit.

When the learner fails an attempt, the learner will be shown which questions were missed so the learner can have a review. The learner then needs to re-attempt the assessment with a different set of random questions, until the learner reaches the maximum number of allowed attempts or until he passes.

  9. Click Save and Publish

Options

There are several options you can set up to customise the presentation of your assessment page. Go to the Assessment’s main page and in the menu select Assessment.

Number of attempts the learner is allowed?

  • Set up how many attempts a learner can be allowed to take the assessment by adding a number in Number of attempts the learner is allowed?. When this is set to zero it means the number of attempts is unlimited

Required percentage of correct answer to pass the assessment

  • Set the passing score by entering a percentage in Required percentage of correct answer to pass the assessment

Feedback

  • You can customise the feedback to notify the learner when he passed or failed the assessment. In this section, you can write the prompt you want to show the learner.
e.g. Passed: Congratulations you have passed the assessment!
e.g. Failed: You have not answered the required number of questions correctly.

Introduction to the review section

  • This is a section where the missed questions are presented to the learner after the submission. Type the text you want to prompt the learners which questions were answered incorrectly
e.g. The following are the questions you have answered incorrectly

Maximum number of attempts reached

  • Write a text prompt when the learner has attempted more than allowed attempts

No all questions have been attempted

  • Write a text prompt when the learner did not answer all questions, this will also show which questions were missed.

Submit button text

  • In this section, you can customise the text for the Submit button when the learner is going to submit his answers
    e.g. Submit now

Re-attempt button text

  • In this section, you can customise the text for the Re-attempt button when the learner failed the previous attempt and has to retake the assessment.
    e.g. Try again

Advanced Options

In glasshouse Assessment page, there are few advanced features that you can use.

Start in the Main page and go to the Assessment Menu, scroll down to the bottom and click the dropdown menu for Advanced

  1. Show the QR code generate form - by toggling this feature, when a learner passed the assessment it will ask the learner to input their name and generate a unique QR code. This is a confirmation that he passed the assessment.
  2. Show the QR code decode block - by toggling this feature, you can decode the QR code by typing in the encrypted code string (this is obtained when scanning the QR code). It will then show the learner’s name and date of completion
  3. Hide submit attempts button - you can hide the submit attempt buttons by toggling this feature. This is mainly used for the administrator’s page when decoding the QR code
  4. Hide questions feedback shown to learners - the feedback for each question can be hidden by this feature
  5. Show visual chart - this feature will show the learner a graph of his score in percentage and the number of attempts he has committed
