Building a dashboard

Overview

A Dashboard page is similar to a Home page, but has features to include dynamic information based on the users learning experience. Add certificates, widgets, and assign tasks to users from the Dashboard page.

How to set up a learning dashboard

Create a new page, and select Learner Dashboard Page in the Choose page type area. See Creating pages for basic steps in setting up a page.

  1. Add Page name, URL segment and Navigation label.
  2. Add content to appear above the page widgets in the Content field (optional).
  3. Under the Content field is the Widgets area. Click on the (Select type to create) dropdown menu to choose a widget type, and click Add.
  4. Enter Widget title in the Title field, and click Save or Save and Close.
  5. Widgets can be edited, reordered and deleted from the Widgets panel. Check the Allow drag and drop reordering box to reorder widget items.
  6. Click Save and Publish.
Options

A Certificate widget adds a button to the dashboard for the learner to download a Certificate. Certificates can be set to be visible only once the learner has completed certain actions or assessments. Visit Certificates for information on how to create and edit certificates.

A Spaced activities widget adds a widget to the dashboard displaying information from predefined activities which are triggered only once a learner has completed certain activities or assessments. Examples include checkboxes for learner progress, and spaced manager or buddy emails or reports. See Building spaced learning for more information on spaced activities.
