Group Rules

Overview

In Glasshouse, groups can be defined by rules e.g all coaches/buddies can be added to the group automatically.  Then that group can provide access to certain pages e.g. dashboard.

How to create groups using the Group Rule
  1. Start in the Security section
  2. Click on Groups tab and then Add group tab
  3. Put a name for the group you want to populate. A description can be added to give detail about the group and then click Create.
  4. Define how you want the members of the group to be populated by clicking the Rules tab
  5. Click on Add group rule. The Rules are set up as Member attribute and Logic.

To choose which members you want to range as a group, click on the Member attribute. This serves as a criteria for filtering the data. Currently, there are only 3 types of Member attribute that you can choose from: Buddy, Organisation, and Learner’s way point. (See individual description below.)

When the type of Member attribute has been selected, you will then need to narrow down the selection by clicking on the Logic dropdown menu:

  1. Is - when you want to populate the list of members who belong to the group of the chosen Member attribute
  2. Is not - when you want to populate all the members who does not belong to the group of the chosen member attribute

Example:

  • to populate the members who are part of the Buddy system
    Member attribute: Buddy
    Logic: is

  • to populate the members who are NOT part of the Buddy system
    Member attribute: Buddy
    Logic: is not

  • and the same set up for Organisation and Learner’s way point

6. Click Create and Save. The members will then be updated by a background job. You can make multiple rules or combine rules inside the group by repeating the steps above.

Types of member attributes and how to set up
  1. Buddy - Allows you to make a group of all of the current buddies. This doesn’t have any other options.

  2. Organisation - Allows you to make a group of all members who are part of an organisation.  After you have chosen this option and saved it  you can then choose an existing organisation or make a new organisation.

  3. Learners waypoint -  Allows you to make a group  based on users that completed a waypoint. After you have chosen this option and saved it you can then choose an existing waypoint or make a new waypoint.
