Launch other sites

How to launch other sites

Step 1: Create the launch code from the target site

Go to the target Glasshouse site (the one which will be linked to) and navigate to Settings in the left-hand panel.

  1. Select the Integrations tab from the options at the top of the page.
  2. Click Add Launch Token.
  3. Add the URL of the launch site (the one that will launch the target site). The full URL including the https:// must be used.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Copy the Secret Key to add to the back-end of the launch site.
  6. Click Save and Close.

Step 2: Create the launch page

Go to the launch site admin area (the Glasshouse site from which the target site will be launched).

  1. In the site tree, click Add New to create a new page (more details on creating pages can be found here).
  2. In the Choose where to create this page section, choose either Top level to make the launch page parentless, or Under another page if the launch page will be a child of another page.
  3. In the Choose page type section, select Launch page.
  4. Click Create.
  5. Type a name for the page in the Page name field. The URL segment and Navigation label will auto-update.
  6. Click Save and publish.

Step 3: Link the launch code from the target site to the new launch page

On the newly created launch page navigate to the Integrations tab.

  1. Under the Other Glasshouse sites section, click the Add Sites to Launch button.
  2. Add a title for the launch button in the Title field.
  3. Add the URL of the target site in The address of the site to be launched field (this must be a full URL including the https://).
  4. Add the Secret Key from the target site into The secret key for the launch site field.
  5. Click Save or Save and Close.
Options

Launch buttons can be limited to certain audiences or user groups if needed. When setting up the launch site integration in the Integrations tab of the launch page, click on the drop-down menu in the Choose which group is allowed to launch this site section. More than one user group can be selected. More information on setting up user groups and audiences can be found here. If there is no restricted access, leave this field blank.

You can also add an icon to the launch page button from the Icon area. Either drop the image into the drop a file section or navigate to the image from files or your computer. More information on adding images and files can be found here.

Transferring data with launch

You can setup most Member related data to be transferred on launch.

Here is a video covering the setup of launch data transfer:

Note that: During the video there was an error in the demo and the data was not transferred this is because data is only transferred on login and in the video we were already logged into the launched site.

Overview

This feature allows the user to launch multiple Glasshouse sites from a single page on a launch site. The user will be logged straight in to the target site once they launch that site from the launch page. If the user is logged in with an admin account they can also navigate directly to the back-end of the target site. The launch page can link to as many Glasshouse instances as required.
