Managing files

Overview

Organise, reorder or delete uploaded files and folders. Files are managed from the Files tab in the Navigation panel. Listed here will be all the directories that hold files in your website. This includes both images and documents such as PDF files, and can also include javascript files. Visit Adding images for information on creating folders and adding images to the CMS (Content Management System).

How to manage files

Create a folder

Start in the Files tab in the Navigation panel on the left-hand side of the screen.

  1. Click on Add folder beneath the Files heading.

The newly created folder will be placed as a subfolder of the currently selected folder.

Delete a folder

  1. Click on the the Delete icon in the actions column to the right of the folder listing.
  2. A browser dialog box with the text Do you really want to delete this folder and all contained files? will appear.
  3. Click Yes to delete the folder.

Search for images and documents

  1. Click on the Search icon on the right hand side of the Filters panel at the top of the page.
  2. Type the whole or partial filename in the Name field to search by title, or select the Date the file was added.
  3. Click on the File type dropdown menu (optional) to limit the search to certain file types.

The Filter panel, with another search icon (directly above the file listings) acts in a very similar manner to the search function. Using this filter option will only search within the folder currently selected however, whereas the Search panel at the top of the page will search through all folders on the CMS (unless the Limit to current folder? option is checked).

Navigate to the file to be edited or moved.

  1. Click the Edit icon in the actions column to the right of the file listing. This will bring up the file details pane.
  2. File information will be displayed at the top of the page. Underneath are fields to edit the Title and Filename.
  3. Click on the Folder dropdown menu to select a new location to move the file to.
  4. Click Save or Save and close.
  5. To delete the file from this window, click Delete in the bottom right hand corner.
