MCQ Buttons

Overview

An MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) Buttons block is excellent for extended answers and feedback. The answer and feedback can include media and images. MCQ Buttons blocks allow you to set up questions with multiple answer options, add feedback for correct / incorrect / neutral answers, or create general feedback for all answers.

How to create an MCQ Buttons block

Start in the Main content area on a Sequence Page.

Initial step up: Create an MCQ Buttons block

  1. Select MCQ Buttons Block from the Blocks dropdown menu. Click Add.
  2. Add a heading in the Headings field.
  3. Click on Multi Choice in the top panel to access the question and answer options.
  4. Add the question into The Question field.
  5. Click Save before continuing.

Adding each of the options

  1. Click on Add Multiple Choice options.
  2. Add multiple choice option text into the Choice content field.
  3. Select feedback type from the Type of feedback to show the learner dropdown menu. Feedback options are Correct, Neutral and Incorrect. Incorrect is the default setting.
  4. Incorrect options are given a score of 0, correct options are given a score of 10. Add a different number into the Score field to change the score for the option if needed.
  5. Add individual feedback for the option into the Feedback field (optional).
  6. Click Save.

Options

Click on the Advanced - change how the options are displayed dropdown menu for further options.

Whole of Question Feedback

  • Add feedback text to the Whole of Question Feedback field to display the same feedback for each option. Individual feedback will not be displayed when general feedback is added.

Re-order options

  • Click Allow drag and drop reordering to reorder the position of multiple choice options. Click and drag the preview of an option within the option list to sit either above or below other options.

Advanced options

  • Select Show options as a row of regular buttons to display options horizontally rather than vertically. Best suited to multiple choice questions where the text for each option is short (several words at most).
  • Select Show options as checkboxes to display options as vertical check-boxes rather than buttons.

 Postscript

Click on the Postscript dropdown menu to add text underneath the multiple choice questions.

  • Add text into the Postscript content field. This text will be independent of both question and options.
