MCQ - Drop down

Overview

An MCQ Dropdown block is a multiple choice activity that presents users with options in a dropdown menu that can be selected as a response to either questions or specific knowledge. It is a useful block type if there are multiple possible responses to a single prompt, and the user must select the correct response. The layout of MCQ Drop down blocks are similar to that of Tables, however they contain only two columns - the prompt, and the dropdown menu. Individual or overall feedback can be given, with Feedback button for overall feedback.

How to create an MCQ Drop-down block

Creating the MCQ Drop down block

Start in the Page management area of the Sequence page.

  1. Click on the (Select type to create) dropdown menu above the Blocks area, and select MCQ Drop-downs block.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter a block heading and content in the Main tab as required. Content here can form instructions for the user.
  4. Click Save and Publish.

Adding the MCQ Drop-down activity

  1. Click on the Multi Choice tab.
  2. Add a question for the activity into The Question field.
  3. Enter the options which will appear in the dropdown menu into the Comma separated list of options to show field. Separate each option with commas, and no spaces.
  4. Click Save and Publish.

Adding MCQ items

  1. Click the Add item button.
  2. Enter the text for which the user must select an appropriate option into the The label for this row field. Each label or prompt will appear on a separate row.
  3. Enter the correct option for this prompt into the The correct option for this question field. Enter the option exactly as it was entered on the previous page.
  4. Add correct and incorrect feedback into the respective feedback fields (optional). If overall feedback will be added, these can be left blank.
  5. Click Save and close.
  6. Add as many MCQ items as required. Items can be reordered or deleted from the items list.
  7. Click Save and Publish.
