MCQ - Range Slider

Overview

A Range Slider block consists of a horizontal scale with set value points, from which a user can select an appropriate position on the range. The range slider contains a single handle that can be moved with the mouse or by using the arrow keys to select a numeric value or text answer to a question.

How to create an MCQ Range slider block

Creating the Range Slider block

Start in the Page management area of the Sequence page.

  1. Click on the (Select type to create) dropdown menu above the Blocks area, and select MCQ Range Slider Block.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter a block heading and content in the Main tab as required. Content here can form instructions for the user.
  4. Click Save and Publish.

Adding the Range slider activity.

  1. Click on the Multi Choice tab.
  2. Add a question for the activity into The Question field.
  3. Click Save and Publish before adding the range slider values.

Adding the Range slider values

Values are points along the slider range. Values can either be numbers or text, depending upon your context / question. If text, values should be kept short (single words are best) so they fit and display well along the horizontal scale.

  1. Click on the Add RangeSliderValue button.
  2. Enter text into the Value field.
  3. Check the Tick this box if this is the correct answer if that value is correct for your activity (optional).
  4. Add feedback for that value into the Feedback field.
  5. Click Save and close.

Add as many range slider values as is required for your activity. Once complete, click Save and Publish.

Options

The Feedback button text defaults to Feedback, however this can be changed if needed from the Button text field underneath the range slider values list. Feedback can also be turned off (useful for self-assessment activities) by checking the Don't show the feedback button in the Advanced menu.
