How to upload and add images

Upload images to the CMS via Files

Organise images and files easily by uploading them to the CMS (Content Management System) via Files. This is the preferred method of adding images in Glasshouse.

Uploading images to Files

Start in the Files tab in the Navigation panel on the left-hand side of the screen.

  1. Click on Add folder underneath the Files heading.
  2. Enter folder name and click Ok.
  3. Click on the folder that has just been created.
  4. Click Upload at the top of the screen underneath the folder name.
  5. In the Choose files area, select either Choose files to upload and navigate to the files you wish to upload, or drag and drop them into the Drag area.
  6. Once the file is uploaded, the process can be repeated. Multiple files can be uploaded at once by selecting multiple files at once from the Choose files to upload option, or dragging and dropping multiple selected files into the Drag area.
  7. Click Back to folder once upload is completed.

Follow the same procedure for other file types such as documents and video files.

Adding images to content

Add images to any page once they have been uploaded to Files. Start in the Content field in the Page management area.

  1. Click on Insert Media.
  2. Select From the CMS option in the Insert Media toolbar of the popup.
  3. Click on the (Choose or Search) dropdown menu in the Find in Folder section to navigate to the uploaded image, or select from the files listed in the panel below.
  4. Select the image to insert.
  5. Click Edit (optional) to add or change details of the image. Edit options include adding alternative text, an image caption, changing the alignment style and changing the image dimensions. Glasshouse has a default maximum image size of 600px wide, which can be changed in the Dimensions field. The image height will automatically change to constrain proportions if the width field is altered, and vice versa.
  6. Click Insert.

Upload single images

Upload images directly from the Content field of a page without uploading to Files first. This option is simpler than than uploading to the CMS first, however files will be added directly to the root Uploads folder without the option to organise them into folders.

Start in the Content field of the page in the Page management area.

  1. Click Insert Media.
  2. Select From your computer in the Insert Media toolbar of the popup.
  3. In the Choose files area, select either Choose files to upload and navigate to the files you wish to upload, or drag and drop them into the Drag area.
  4. Once the file is uploaded, the process can be repeated. Multiple files can be uploaded at once by selecting multiple files at once from the Choose files to upload option, or dragging and dropping multiple selected files into the Drag area. If multiple files are uploaded with this method they will appear as a list in the Details and dimensions area.
  5. Click Edit (optional) to add or change details of the selected image.

Upload image from another web page

Add images into a page directly from another website. Start in the Content field of the page in the Page management area.

  1. Click Insert Media.
  2. Select From the web option in the Insert Media toolbar of the popup.
  3. Enter the URL of the web page containing the image to be uploaded into the Add URL area.
  4. Click the Add URL button.
  5. Click Edit (optional) to add or change details of the selected image.

Adding images directly from the web works best if the URL added is the direct URL of an image, not the URL of a webpage containing multiple images and other elements.

Overview

Add and upload images to your site. There are several ways to upload images - from the CMS via the Files tab in the Navigation panel, from within the Content editor in a page, or from another web page.
